Girl (23) Marries Homeless Man – When Parents Find Out Why, They Burst Into Tears
“Fine,” she said coolly. “Come in.”
As they crossed the threshold, Jane’s eyes narrowed at Dean. She couldn’t resist the jab.
“Don’t touch anything, Dean,” she snapped. “We all know you can’t afford any of this.”
Rebecca stiffened, but Dean said nothing, keeping his expression carefully neutral.
Jane wasn’t finished. After a pause, she added, her tone laced with venom, “I hope you appreciate the nice home my daughter’s given you. Certainly beats a park bench… doesn’t it?”
Her cold, mocking laugh cut through the room like glass.
Mark frowned but said nothing—for now.
And Rebecca? She was done being silent.
Mark shot Jane a reproachful look, his eyes quietly urging her to show a shred of compassion. But she dismissed it with a slight tilt of her chin, as if the request itself annoyed her.
Rebecca tried again, gentler this time. “Mom, please… just listen to us.”
Jane scowled and shook her head, folding her arms tightly across her chest.

They moved to the living room, but there was no comfort in the seating. Jane perched stiffly at the edge of the couch, her hands twitching as she brushed nonexistent dust from her slacks.
She avoided looking at either of them, her gaze darting around the room like a trapped bird. And when she finally did meet Rebecca’s eyes, it was with a sharpness that made her daughter flinch—like her stare alone could wound.
Rebecca’s heart pounded, but she knew this was no time to shrink away.
“I think it’s time you all know the real reason Dean and I got married,” she said firmly, the weight of the moment pressing down on her.
The words hung in the air.
